Home is Where the Art Is

Join us for a walk from the heart of the Happy Streets Festival to 575 Wandsworth Road for a tour of this very special home and work of art, followed by a creative workshop around the dining table.

On our walk we will collect textures from our neighbourhood by making rubbings using paper and crayons, as well as gathering texts from street signs and notices. The route will pass Yinka Ilori’s ‘Happy Street’ bridge and Brian Barnes’s ‘A Brief History of Time’ mural.

Taking inspiration from 575 Wandsworth Road, the workshop will be a space to explore our creativity through verbal and visual media, and can explore how we can express ourselves in our own homes.

Local poet Hilaire will guide participants in using the found words to create poems and Manasi Pophale will facilitate incorporating the rubbings into paper cutting decoration.
