HOME IS WHERE THE ART IS
Thank you for joining us. Whether you took part in the walk, joined a workshop, or simply stumbled across our self-guided tour map - welcome!
Home is Where the Art is is a creative journey inspired by Khadambi Asalache, artist and poet, whose extraordinary home at 575 Wandsworth Road continues to inspire long after his passing.
The project encourages us to follow the spirit of Asalache’s creative process of drawing inspiration from the world around him and weaving it into his home. He was a private man who rarely shared his creative life beyond close friends. In leaving his house to the National Trust, he asked that it be appreciated for its artistic merit, not his personal story. This project honours that wish. Created for Wandsworth Arts Fringe 2025, ‘Home is Where the Art is’ invites you to reflect on what home, memory and belonging mean in our rapidly changing city.
We’re proud to be part of the London Borough of Culture 2025 programme with the generous support of Wandsworth Arts Fringe and The National Trust.
